Fountains are an incredible way to make a garden look more attractive, and calming too from your viewpoint on the patio furniture. They can be a bit expensive though, and need to generate quite a bit of electricity in order to keep them running. At least that used to be the case. Today, a solar fountain can be purchased relatively inexpensively and once you leave the store, your financial commitment to keeping that solar powered fountain running is over.
Solar fountains, like all other solar powered items, are powered directly from the sun. Panels are located within the design of the solar water fountain that gather energy from the sun’s rays and keep the solar fountain pump running all day long. It allows anyone to provide a touch of elegance to their outdoor setting without ever generating any excessive costs.
The one drawback to a solar powered fountain is that they do not generate enough power to run at night. The power that is being gathered during the day is getting immediately used and because of the drain on the battery supply to run the fountain, it will not have enough energy stored to continue operation during the evening hours.
Anyone wanting their solar fountain to run during the night would have to purchase a fountain that offered a backup power system such as a regular battery pack or electricity. Of course, some may comment that there is no purpose in buying a solar fountain if it still has to be powered, but let’s take a quick look at that and see why a solar fountain makes so much more sense.
Most people will only run their fountain during daylight hours when people can actually see it. On the rare occasions that the fountain will be used at night, perhaps for a party, the electric charges that will be incurred will be at a lower rate than if the fountain had been running during prime hours. Of course, the owner could always purchase a small solar generator to use to power the fountain when needed at night and the electricity would still be for free. Now do you see why using a solar fountain makes sense?
