There are a lot of different cake pans that need to be in everyone’s pantry. There are tons of crazy and wild pans out there, but many of of us skip over the ones that are used in the basics of baking. These pans are especially tempting to the beginning baker. There are some pans that are going to get a ton of use, no matter how good you are at baking. This post is going to outline some of these pans so that you can be sure that you have the right ones.
The standard cake pan is the round pan in different sizes. The sizes that you’re going to need the most are nine and ten inch, but having the odd seven, eleven, and thirteen inch pans are also extremely helpful. These pans are perfect for creating tiered cakes, and also work well for cutting them into shapes that aren’t available in pans. If you also bake cheesecake, having a few sizes of springform pans is also very helpful.
Another mandatory pan is the bundt. As for size or shape, it doesn’t really matter, but what does matter is that it’s non stick. It’s a pain in the butt for beginners to get a bundt cake out of the pan, and having non stick just makes it that much easier. These are also called fluted cake pans, and are designed that way so that the cake can bake evenly throughout. This style will come in very handy during the holiday baking season, and is an easy way to bake a lot of cake at once for larger parties.
Square cake pans don’t get a ton of use, but they’re very helpful to have on hand. Especially for carving out shapes that you can’t find a pan for.
Having these cake pans in your pantry is going to help bake more frequently, and prevent unnecessary trips to the store to get them should the need pop up!
